OMT: Osteopathic Considerations of Adult Hip Pain

First presented at the FOMA 2023 Virtual Convention. FOMA is proud to offer this OMT CME program, as Samantha Cotler, DO shares her OMT expertise on Adult Hip Pain.

Learning objectives:

  • Understand functional anatomy of each joint of the lower extremity.
  • Review how to examine each joint properly for an orthopedic injury and for somatic dysfunction.
  • Understand how to apply high velocity low amplitude, muscle energy, strain-counterstrain, and soft tissue techniques to the tissues of the hip and lower extremity.

Samantha Cotler, DO, MBA

Samantha Cotler, DO, MBA received her DO degree from Rowan University School of Medicine in 2015. She completed her Integrated Family Medicine/Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine Residency at AdventHealth Florida Hospital East Orlando (AHEO), where she was chief resident. Currently, Dr. Cotler is Program Director and Medical Director of the AdventHealth East Orlando Osteopathic Family Medicine Residency Program in Orlando, Florida. She is also core faculty for the Family Medicine Residency program at East Orlando. Prior to moving to Florida, she worked as an attending physician at Cotler Family Practice in Wall, NJ. Dr. Cotler is board certified by the American Osteopathic Board of Family Physicians (AOBFP) and by the American Osteopathic Board of Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine (AOBNMM). Dr. Cotler has been involved at both the state and national level as a presenter, peer reviewer, and council and board member with the AOA, ACOFP, AOBFP, AAO, FSACOFP and with AdventHealth Florida Hospital Graduate Medical Education. Currently, she volunteers with Shepherd’s Hope Free Clinic and with RunDisney Races for Walt Disney World both in Orlando, Florida.
