PrEP for HIV: Empowering PCP's to End the Epidemic

PrEP for HIV: Empowering PCPs to End the Epidemic- Hunter Spencer, DO

Attaining the national goal of ending the HIV epidemic by 2030 will require HIV prevention through the broad and equitable application of pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) implemented by providers in both rural and urban settings. This session will increase the generalist’s comfort with PrEP by reviewing HIV virology, PrEP pharmacology and clinical trial data. Nuanced discussion of PrEP indications and review of inequities in PrEP delivery combined with clinical practice recommendations will empower Primary Care Providers to utilize PrEP in their routine practice.
