Harnessing Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment: A Comprehensive Approach to Chronic Pain Management

This session offers a thorough review of osteopathic manipulation as a treatment modality for chronic head and neck pain. Participants will explore the myofascial sources of pain, the utility of various osteopathic treatments, and the application of osteopathic principles in clinical practice.

1. Identify myofascial source of head and neck pain
2. differentiate utility of different osteopathic treatments
3. identify indications and contraindications for different osteopathic treatments
4. apply osteopathic principles to treating pain

The Iowa Osteopathic Medical Association is accredited by the American Osteopathic Association to provide osteopathic continuing medical education for physicians and designates this program for a maximum of 9 AOA Category 1-A credits and will report CME and specialty credits commensurate with the extent of the physician's participation in this activity

Roman Magid, DO

Roman Magid, DO (Magid rhymes with “good deed”) is originally from Chicago’s northern suburbs. After graduating Knox College in Galesburg, IL, he went on to complete medical school at the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine in Downer’s Grove. He then took an internship in the Internal Medicine department at Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge. Afterward, Dr. Magid completed residency training in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation at Schwab Rehabilitation Hospital in Chicago, where he served as the chief resident in his final year. He moved to Eastern Iowa in 2023 with his wife and children, and is now working in the PM&R department at UnityPoint St. Luke's in Cedar Rapids. He heavily relies on his Osteopathic training when working in the chronic pain clinic.
