Following the completion of this lecture, the participant will be able to:

  • Describe the current epidemiology of measles in the United States and globally, including recent outbreak trends and contributing factors such as vaccine coverage and travel.
  • Explain the modes of measles transmission and the implications for infection control within healthcare and community settings.
  • Identify the clinical presentation and diagnostic criteria for measles, including key features that differentiate it from other febrile rash illnesses.
  • Outline evidence-based treatment strategies for managing measles and its complications in pediatric and adult populations.
  • Discuss effective prevention measures, including vaccination strategies, post-exposure prophylaxis, and approaches to addressing vaccine hesitancy in clinical practice.

Emily Godbout, DO

Dr. Emily Godbout completed her osteopathic medical degree at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine and then went on to complete a Pediatrics residency at VCU in Richmond, VA. Following her pediatrics residency, she completed an infectious disease residency, also at VCU in Richmond, VA. Dr. Godbout currently practices as a Pediatric Infectious Disease Physician at Children’s Hospital of Richmond in Richmond, VA. Disclosures: None
