Headaches in the Primary Care Setting: OMM Lecture & Lab

Learning objectives:

  • Identify the most common types of headaches in general practice. 
  • Identify red flag headache symptoms necessitating immediate testing or treatment. 
  • Understand common headache treatment approaches, including osteopathic manipulative medicine. 
  • Identify 5 body regions that can contain somatic dysfunctions that can contribute to headaches. 
  • Identify 5 osteopathic techniques that can be utilized in treating headaches.

The Virginia Osteopathic Medical Association (VOMA) is accredited by the American Osteopathic Association to provide osteopathic continuing medical education for physicians. VOMA designates this program for a maximum of 2 AOA Category 1A CME credits and will report CME credits commensurate with the extent of the physician’s participation.

​Grievances regarding program administration and reporting of AOA CME credits will be handled on an individual basis Initially, all grievances should be directed to VOMA Executive Director. Participants with grievances that cannot be resolved will be sent to the AOA Council on CME , 142 East Ontario Street, Chicago, IL 60611.

Mukarram Razvi, DO

Dr. Razvi received his Doctor of Osteopathy degree from Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine in Stratford NJ.  He completed a Family Medicine Residency at Christiana Care Health System in Wilmington, DE.

He completed a clinical fellowship in osteopathic neuromusculoskeletal medicine at the Edward Via Virginia College of Osteopathic Medicine in Blacksburg, VA. Dr. Razvi is the founder and medical director of New River Osteopathy.
