First presented as part of the 2022 WVOMA CME Conference, we are pleased to offer this on demand program as Jessica McColley, DO explores why allyship matters.

Following completion of this program, attendees will be able to:

• Understand the unique healthcare needs and disparities faced by LGBTQ+ individuals, including barriers to accessing competent and affirming care, in order to provide culturally competent and inclusive primary care services.
• Identify strategies to create a welcoming and affirming environment for LGBTQ+ patients in primary care settings, including fostering open communication, using inclusive language, and addressing implicit biases, to promote trust and facilitate disclosure of relevant health information.
• Apply evidence-based practices for the provision of comprehensive and affirming healthcare services to LGBTQ+ patients across the lifespan, including sexual and reproductive health, mental health, gender-affirming care, and preventive screenings, to improve health outcomes and reduce disparities within this population.

The WEST VIRGINIA OSTEOPATHIC MEDICAL ASSOCIATION is accredited by the AOA to provide osteopathic continuing medical education for physicians.  WVOMA designates this program for a maximum of 1 AOA Category 1-A credits and reports CME and specialty credits commensurate with the extent of the physicians participation in this activity.
