WALANT & What I’ve Learned
Kristopher Avant, DO
(certified orthopedic surgery, Oklahoma City, OK)
Learning Objectives:
1. Describe Wide Awake (WALANT) surgery
2. Discuss with patients the potential benefits of WALANT surgery
3. Explain to patients some of the orthopedic hand conditions that are amendable to in-office surgery
 
Grievance Policy
Program grievances will be presented to the Oklahoma Osteopathic Association Board of Trustees and dealt with appropriately. If this action did not resolve the problem to satisfaction, the person with the grievance will be directed to the American Osteopathic Association’s Division of Continuing Medical Education.
 
Accreditation
The OOA is accredited by the American Osteopathic Association to provide osteopathic continuing medical education for physicians.

Natasha N. Bray, DO

Natasha N. Bray, DO, (certified internal medicine, Tahlequah, OK) earned her osteopathic degree from OSU-COM. Dr. Bray went onto the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed her internship as the Chief Intern Physician and completed her residency at Cambridge Health Alliance/Harvard Affiliated Hospital. Dr. Bray is currently an internal medicine clinical assistant professor of rural health for Oklahoma State University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Tulsa, Oklahoma and a contract physician for the Choctaw Nation Health Services Authority.

Nathaniel D Stetson, DO, FACOS

Nathaniel D. Stetson, DO, FACOS, earned his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine in Biddeford, Maine in 2007. After graduation, he continued his medical journey with a residency in neurological surgery at the Northwell Health Institute for Neurology and Neurosurgery. Board-certified in neurosurgery, Dr. Stetson is a neurosurgeon with INTEGRIS Spine & Neurological Surgery in Oklahoma City. When he’s not in the office, Dr. Stetson enjoys fishing, traveling, and spending time with his family.

V. Ray Cordry, DO

V. Ray Cordry, DO earned his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from the Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences’ College of Osteopathic Medicine in Kansas City, Missouri in 1975. Following graduation, he performed a psychiatry residency at the University of Kansas School of Medicine in Wichita, Kansas and a fellowship in child psyciatry at the University of Oklahoma Health Science Center in Oklahoma City. Board certified in psychiatry, Dr. Cordry’s experience includes rural primary care and emergency medicine, psyciatry medcial directorships and teaching osteopathic and allopathic students. Dr. Cordry is currently the Outpatient Medical Director for the Red Rock Behavioral Health Services.

Kristopher R Avant, DO

Kristopher R. Avant, DO is an Oklahoma native who earned his Doctor of Osteopathy degree from the Oklahoma State University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Upon completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at Bone & Joint Hospital at St. Anthony’s in Oklahoma City and a hand & upper extremity fellowship in Tampa, Florida, at the Florida Orthopedic Institute. While there, Dr. Avant had the opportunity to work extensively at the Shriner’s Hospital for Children. Board certified in orthopedic surgery, Dr. Avant returned to his roots and is currently practicing at the Southwest Orthopedics and Reconstructing Specialists (OSSO).
