Advances in Anterior Segment Ophthalmology

Learning Objectives:

Following the completion of this course, the participant will be able to:
•    Understand of basic anatomy of the eye
•    Explain the refractive states of the eye
•    Describe advances in corneal refractive surgery
•    Explain advances in modern cataract surgery
•    Define MIGS (minimally invasive glaucoma surgery)
•    Discuss newest weapons against glaucoma, “the silent thief of vision.” 

Suzanne Everhart, DO, Everhart Eye Associates

Dr. Everhart is a graduate of the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine. There, she received the Hoecht-Roussel Award for Clinical Excellence in Surgery. Following completion of medical school, she did her residency at Tulsa Regional Medical Center in Tulsa, Okla. At that time, she received extensive training in cataract, glaucoma, eye trauma and retinal disorders, and the use of state-of-the-art techniques and technology in their treatment.

Following her residency, Dr. Everhart joined the Eye Specialists practice in Virginia Beach. She also was an adjunct faculty member in the Ophthalmology Residency Program at Eastern Virginia Medical School and participated in the clinical and surgical training of Ophthalmology residents. In 1994, she established her own practice, Everhart Eye Associates, in Ashland, Va.

Dr. Everhart has been actively engaged in a variety of professional organizations. From 2004 to 2008, she served on the Virginia State Board of Medicine. She has also been a member of the Board of Directors of the Virginia Society of Eye Physicians and Surgeons from 2006 to present. She is a past President of the Virginia Society of Eye Physicians and Surgeons.
