Multiple Sclerosis: Diagnosing, Treating, and Managing Symptoms. Was first presented at the Kansas Association of Osteopathic Medicine Annual Conference 2023. This program now made available on-demand, follows Jennifer Chester, APRN-MSCN and Jeffrey Kaplan, MD as they expand on Multiple Sclerosis, diagnostic criteria, as well as how to manage and treat patients with MS.

Learning Objectives:

  1. List the diagnostic criteria for Multiple Sclerosis (MS)
  2. Discuss disease modifying therapies and their mechanism of actions.
  3. Describe common symptoms of MS and Appropriate treatment strategies.

Accreditation Statement:

KAOM is an accredited sponsor by the American Osteopathic Association for osteopathic continuing medical education for physicians. KAOM designates this program for a maximum of 1 AOA Category 1-A CME credits and will report CME and specialty credits commensurate with the physician’s participation.

Jeffrey Kaplan, MD, Department Head, Kansas City Multiple Sclerosis Center

Jeffrey Kaplan, MD, graduated with a medical degree from the University of Kansas School of Medicine. Kaplan has over 30 years’ experience in the field of neurology where he specializes. Kaplan is currently the Medical Director of Infusion Services for the Kansas City Multiple Sclerosis and Headache Center. Kaplan also hold the position of Surgical Specialists within the Family Care Center Physicians Group in Overland Park.

Jennifer Chester, APRN, received her BSN from Creighton University in 1993. Chester later received an MSN, FNP from Binghamton University in 2006. With over 30 years in the medical field with the last decade specializing in neuro and trauma care. Chester is currently a Neurology Nurse Practitioner with the College Park Family Care Center Specialty office.
