OMT: Osteopathic Approach to the Upper Extremity 

Understand the basic anatomy of the UE.

 Know the most common injuries to the UE and how they occur.

Be able to recognize how these common injuries present

How to work-up injuries: physical exam, special tests, and imaging.

How to treat common injuries and somatic dysfunction with OMT.

 

OMT: Osteopathic Management of Lower Back Pain 

Understand the common causes of low back pain in the adult population

Diagnose the causes of a patient’s low back pain through physical examination 

Treat low back pain conservatively with Osteopathic Manipulative Techniques

OMT: Hip Pain

Anatomy of the hip and its surrounding structures

Physiology of the hop and its surrounding structures

Symptoms of hip pain

Common Pathology causing hip pain

Lauren Hensley, DO

Lauren Hensley, DO is a 2015 graduate of Nova Southeastern University Kiran Patel College of Osteopathic Medicine (NSU-KPCOM). She completed her internship at Larkin Community Hospital and is currently a resident in Osteopathic Neuromuscular Medicine. Dr. Hensley has participated in contributions to some publications and case study research as well as being a member of many Honor Societies nationwide.

Joseph Secor-Taddia, DO

Joseph Secor-Taddia, DO is a 2018 graduate of the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine, and recently completed his residency through the Saint Elizabeth Family Medicine residency program. He is currently in the Larkin Community Hospital ONMM Post Graduate Training Program –PGY-2 Osteopathic Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine Residency. He has been co-author to “Today’s Geriatric Medicine Magazine” and “East Connecticut Healthcare Network.” He is certified in: Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support and Neonatal Resuscitation Program.

Robert Kim, DO

Robert Kim, DO, is a 2018 graduate of Nova Southeastern University – Kiran Patel College of Osteopathic Medicine. He is currently a resident physician at Larkin Community Hospital, Palm Springs Campus in Hialeah, Florida, completing his residency program in Family Medicine.

Iza Jordan, DO

Iza Jordan, DO, is a 2019 graduate of Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine – Georgia. Dr. Jordan completed a transitional year at Hackensack Meridian Health Palisades Medical Center. Currently, she is completing her residency in Osteopathic Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine at Larkin Community Hospital Palm Springs Campus in Hialeah, Florida.

Abdul Samad, DO

Abdul-Samad Mirza, DO is a 2019 graduate of New York Institute of Technoloby College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed a General Surgery Residency at Nassau University Medical Center. Currently, Dr. Mirza is in the Larkin Community Hospital Osteopathic Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine Residency program in Hialeah, Florida. Dr. Mirza enjoys volunteering and is fluent in Urdu and Punjabi.

Steven Ma, DO

Steven Ma, DO, was born and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  As a first generation Chinese-Vietnamese American, he was inspired by his uncle, a fellow Osteopathic Family Medicine Physician, to pursue a career in Medicine in order to help serve the community that he came from. He attended Temple University on a full scholarship and graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor's Degree in Biophysics.  He went on to attend medical school at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine.  He then moved to Miami, Florida where he completed his Family Medicine Residency and Osteopathic Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine Fellowship at Larkin Community Hospital. After completing his training, Dr. Ma worked in Private Practice in Pembroke Pines, Florida, as well as served as the Associate Program Director of Family Medicine at Larkin Community Hospital Palm Springs Campus.  His passion for academic medicine and teaching future generations of physicians led him to taking a full time position at LECOM Bradenton in 2017. At LECOM Bradenton, Dr. Ma served as the Assistant Course Director of the Osteopathic Principles and Practices Course, as well as the Assistant Dean of Clinical Education. Currently, Dr. Ma is teaching at the Alabama College of Osteopathic Medicine as an Associate Professor of Osteopathic Principles and Practices and Director of Osteopathic Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine.  Even while teaching at ACOM, Dr. Ma is still a proud Florida Resident and remains an active member of Florida Osteopathic Medical Association (FOMA).
Dr. Ma is a 2013 graduate of PCOM. Dr. Ma is an Associate Professor of Medicine with a demonstrated history of working in the healthcare industry in Private Practice and in Medical Education as an Associate Program Director of a Medical Residency Program. He is skilled in Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine, Acupuncture, Homeopathy, Medical Education, and Primary Care.
