Substance Use Disorders, Substance Induced Disorders and Co-Occurring
Individuals with both a substance use disorder and a mental disorder constitute an especially challenging diagnostic and treatment group. This presentation will shed light on this topic as it reviews the epidemiology, diagnosis, prognosis and some treatment ideas. Clinical vigilance is the key to unlocking these complicated differential diagnoses that as a group are labeled co-occurring disorders.

Statement of Accreditation
The Texas Osteopathic Medical Association (TOMA) is accredited by the American Osteopathic Association to provide osteopathic continuing medical education for physicians. TOMA designates this program for a maximum of 1 AOA Category 1-A credits and will report CME credits commensurate with the extent of the physician’s participation in this activity.

Gregory Lande, DO, FACN, FAOAAM
Dr. Gregory Lande is the Director of the Psychiatry Continuity Service at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. The Psychiatry Continuity Service offers a wide range of early intervention, specialized outpatient services for members of the active duty military. Dr. Lande also serves as the Clinical consultant on the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center's Addiction Treatment Service. Dr. Lande is a former President of the American Osteopathic Academy of Addiction Medicine.
Dr. Lande is the author of numerous articles, chapters and books. His most recent book, "Spiritualism in the American Civil War” was published in July 2020.
Dr. Lande discloses that he has no relevant financial relationships with any organization producing, marketing, reselling, or distributing health care goods or services consumed by, or used on, patients relative to the content of this presentation.
