3. Discuss pearls of documentation.

The South Carolina Osteopathic Medical Society is accredited by the American Osteopathic Association to provide osteopathic continuing medical education for physicians.

The South Carolina Osteopathic Medical Society designates this program for a maximum of 1.0 AOA Category 1-A credits and will report CME and specialty credits commensurate with the extent of the physician's participation in this activity.

Dr. Ryan Hakimi, DO

Dr. Hakimi is a Neurointensivist and Director of the Neuro ICU and TCD Services at Prisma Health-Upstate in Greenville, SC. He also serves as an Associate Professor in the Department of Medicine (Neurology) at the USC School of Medicine-Greenville. Board Certified in Neurocritical Care, Neurology, Neurosonology (RPNI) and as a Neurovascular Specialist (NVS), Dr. Hakimi was the first fellowship trained DO Neurointensivist and the first DO to be designated Fellow of Neurocritical Care Society. Dr. Hakimi was the first Neurointensivist in the state of Oklahoma and the founding Medical Director of the Oklahoma University Medical Center Neurosciences Intensive Care Unit where he served as an Associate Professor in the Department of Neurology at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. He was also on faculty at the Oklahoma State University Center for Health Sciences. He wrote the post-cardiac arrest hypothermia protocols for Durham County EMS (North Carolina) and later worked with the Oklahoma Office of the Medical Control Board to co-author the state’s post-cardiac arrest treatment protocol which was applied throughout the state. Dr. Hakimi received his medical degree from Michigan State University Osteopathic Medicine and his Master of Science in Radiological Health from the University of Michigan-Rackham Graduate School. He was a United States Department of Energy Applied Health Physics Fellow, completed a Neurology Residency at Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine-Beaumont Hospital (Botsford), and completed a two-year Neurocritical Care and Stroke Fellowship at Duke University Medical Center. Dr. Hakimi is the President-Elect of the South Carolina Osteopathic Medical Society.
