Asthma Update 2023


First presented at the FOMA 2023 Virtual Convention. Dr. Papierniak gives a detailed update on the diagnosis and treatment of Asthma.

Following completion of this course, attendees shall be able to:

  • Describe significant changes in recommended asthma management contained in the latest guidelines from both the WHO and NIH-sponsored organizations
  • Analyze differences between the two and the reasons why they exist.
  • Integrate these guidelines and newly-approved therapies into their current practice

Eric Papierniak

Eric Papierniak, DO, received his DO degree from Nova Southeastern University College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2006. He completed both his residency in Internal Medicine and fellowship in Pulmonary/Critical Care Medicine at University of Florida/Shands Hospital. Dr. Papierniak is Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Diseases, and Critical Care Medicine. Currently, he is the ICU Director for the US Department of Veterans Affairs at the Malcom Randall VA Medical Center in Gainesville, Florida. Dr. Papierniak is also Associate Professor of Pulmonary and Critical Care at the University of Florida. Currently, there is a clinic focused on the treatment of severe asthma at UF.
