  • Evaluate evidence-based pharmacologic strategies for glycemic control, with emphasis on cardiorenal risk reduction and weight management.
  • Share key updates from the 2023 AACE guidelines for the management of Type 2 Diabetes, including treatment algorithms and prevention of Type 2 Diabetes.
  • Integrate lifestyle intervention recommendations—including nutrition, physical activity, and behavioral strategies—into routine clinical practice.

Carly Ernst, DO

Dr. Ernst studied osteopathic medicine at Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine, then went on to complete Internal Medicine training at the University of Kansas. She is board certified in Internal Medicine and Obesity Medicine, and currently working on certification in Culinary Medicine. She practices as a primary care physician and is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Midwestern University.
