Antibiotic Stewardship for URI and Sinusitis
Length: 45 Minutes


This program will expire and must be completed by 11/19/24.

Physicians and medical professionals will be able to describe the Pathophysiology and commonly involved micro-organisms in upper respiratory tract infections, including the infection of the sinuses, and describe the evidence-based guidelines for the use of antibiotics in upper respiratory infections and sinusitis. They will be able to discuss evidence-based management of patients with URI and/or sinusitis in a primary care setting.

Learning Objectives:
•    Describe the Pathophysiology and commonly involved micro-organisms in upper respiratory tract infections, including the infection of the sinuses
•    Describe the evidence-based guidelines for the use of antibiotics in upper respiratory infections and sinusitis
•    Describe evidence-based management of patients with URI and/or sinusitis in a primary care setting

Accreditation Statement:
The Montana Osteopathic Medical Association is accredited by the American Osteopathic Association to provide osteopathic continuing medical education for physicians and designates this program for a maximum of .75 AOA Category 1-A credits and will report CME and specialty credits commensurate with the extent of the physician's participation in this activity.

Grievance Policy:
All grievances should be in writing and should specify the nature of the grievance.  Initially, all grievances should be directed to MOMA Executive Director, who will then forward said grievance to the Education & Convention Committee.  All grievances will receive an initial response in writing within 30 days of receipt.  If the participant does not receive a satisfactory response, then they can then submit a complaint in writing to the Bureau of Osteopathic Education of the AOA at 142 East Ontario Street, Chicago, IL 60611.

 

David Park, DO, FAAFP, FACOFP

David J. Park is the Vice President and Founding Dean of the Proposed Rocky Vista University – Montana College of Osteopathic Medicine. Park received his DO degree from the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1998. After completing his Family Medicine residency at Jamaica Hospital in New York City, an affiliate of the Mt. Sinai School of Medicine at the time, Dr. Park served as full-time faculty there for 4 years teaching residents and medical students before joining a brand new osteopathic medical school in Henderson, Nevada.  During his 10-year tenure in Nevada, Dr. Park held numerous leadership roles in the full spectrum of medical education, including course director, department chair, residency program director, assistant dean of GME, and various state board positions.  Dr. Park then joined Rocky Vista University in 2015 and has led the development of the additional location campus in Southern Utah, which launched in 2017 and just graduated their inaugural class of students this past May.

Dr. Park is involved in various leadership roles at the national level. He serves as the Vice President of the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians, which is the largest specialty organization in the osteopathic profession. He also serves as a Team Chair for site evaluations for the Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation. Dr. Park is also a member of the Bureau of Osteopathic Education for the American Osteopathic Association (AOA), which oversees all aspects of osteopathic medical education in the United States. Dr. Park is a graduate of the AOA Health Policy Fellowship program and continues to be active in advocacy for medical education and primary care.

Dr. Park is a diplomate of the American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM) and a diplomate of the American Osteopathic Board of Family Physicians (AOBFP).

Dr. Park is married to Susan for 25 years and has two children attending the University of Utah studying pre-med. He is looking forward to an adventurous new life in Billings, MT with his wife and a Cavapoo puppy named Skye.
