Guidelines for Prescribing Controlled Substances for Pain

This lecture will review and discuss the guidelines for prescribing controlled substances for pain which were released in July 2023. This knowledge will assist treating physicians in understanding, treating, and other care that is needed to address patients with acute and chronic care in various settings. This lecture is essential to appropriately manage this patient population.

Dr. Kasendorf completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Maryland, followed by medical training at the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine, a medical internship at Plainview Hospital on Long Island, and a residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at Nassau University Medical Center in NY. After completing his residency, he served as medical director for his pain management and rehabilitation clinics in New York before moving to the San Diego area, where he served as associate program director for the Long Beach Medical Center before opening his practice in La Jolla
Dr. Kasendorf is committed to expanding his knowledge and skills in the areas of pain management, physical medicine and rehabilitation, and he holds board certifications in both pain medicine and physical medicine and rehabilitation from the American Osteopathic Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. He has also lectured extensively about the topics of chronic and acute pain management.
In addition to caring for patients at his private practice, Dr. Kasendorf maintains an affiliation with Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla.
