Most Common Lawsuits Against Physicians

Learning Objectives

At the completion of this educational activity, participants will:

  1. Identify the most common medical conditions and factors that result in claims against physicians.
  2. Understand the types of claims that results in a significant cause of loss. 
  3. Comprehend the importance of medical record documentations and its impact on the quality of medical care and defense of lawsuits.
  4. Describe ways to reduce risk in the office practice setting.

Accreditation Statement:

The New York State Osteopathic Medical Society (NYSOMS)  is accredited by the American Osteopathic Association to provide osteopathic continuing medical education for physicians. NYSOMS designates this program for a maximum of 1 AOA Category 2-A CME credits and will report CME credits commensurate with the extent of the physician’s participation.
