Adolescent Mental Health -- Social Media and Sexuality Edition


Session Objectives:

Attendees will learn about adolescent sexual practices, behaviors and attitudes. Attendees with understand how the developmental tasks of adolescence interact with digital media. Attendees will understand how youth explore identity/self and sexuality/other in online spaces. Following this presentation, participants will be able to identify how sexually explicit internet materials may be used by adolescents in normative sexual exploration. Following this presentation, participants will be able to identify which adolescents are more vulnerable to negative effects from sexually explicit internet materials. Participants will be able to identify how they may discuss and think about use of sexually explicit internet materials by their adolescent patients.

 

The Maine Osteopathic Association is accredited by the American Osteopathic Association to provide osteopathic continuing medical education for physicians.The Maine Osteopathic Association designates this program for a maximum of 1.0 AOA Category 1-A credits and will report CME and specialty credits commensurate with the extent of the physician’s participation in this activity.
