An Osteopathic Approach to Pain


Learning Objectives:

    Explain the osteopathic philosophy and the Five Model Approach to osteopathic care.
    Define and differentiate acute and chronic pain.
    Discuss the osteopathic assessment of chronic pain.
    Discuss the standard of care of osteopathic pain management using the five models of osteopathic care.
    Using a patient case scenario, identify basic osteopathic manipulative techniques that can be utilized with ease in patients presenting with pain complaints.
    Identify key research studies that include the use of OMT for chronic pain management.
