Description

In this lecture, Dr. Bryan Snyder will discuss initial settings on Mechanical Ventilators.

Learning Objectives:
·    Select appropriate starting vent settings.
·    Recognize patients for whom their vent settings need adjustment.
·    Use common strategies for liberating patients from a mechanical ventilator.

The Missouri Association of Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons (MAOPS) is accredited by the American Osteopathic Association to provide osteopathic continuing medical education for physicians. MAOPS designates this program for a maximum of 1 AOA Category 1-A credits and will report CME and specialty credits commensurate with the extent of the physician's participation.

Dr. Brian Snyders is a Missouri native and a graduate of AT Still University Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine in Kirksville, Missouri, in 2007, where he was selected a Wetzel Scholar by the Missouri Association of Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons. He completed a residency in Internal Medicine/Emergency Medicine at ARIA Health - Jefferson Health Northeast in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and a Critical Care fellowship at Mercy St. Louis in St. Louis, Missouri, during which he was a Chief Fellow. Dr. Snyders is board certified in Adult Critical Care and Internal Medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine. He is also board certified in Emergency Medicine by the American Board of Emergency Medicine.  

Dr. Snyders is an attending physician at Mercy Hospital St. Louis, where he is also an Adjunct Assistant Professor, and he thoroughly enjoys teaching. He serves on several committees at Mercy, where he helps on projects such as reducing CLABSI within the Critical Care Department and improving the treatment of sepsis and septic shock patients.
