Description

Objectives:

  • Broaden the differential diagnosis of what is causing chronic pain.
  • Formulate a management plan for patients suffering from chronic pain including osteopathic manual medicine.
  • Recognize the many evidence based, effective, non-surgical, non-opioid treatment modalities for chronic pain.

 

The Iowa Osteopathic Medical Association is accredited by the American Osteopathic Association to provide osteopathic continuing medical education for physicians and designates this program for a maximum of 1 AOA Category 1-A credits and will report CME and specialty credits commensurate with the extent of the physician's participation in this activity.

Dr. Elizabeth “Libby” Abbas is a board-certified Family Medicine Physician and Registered Yoga Teacher practicing in Decorah, Iowa. She received her medical degree and Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine Pre-Doctoral Fellowship at Des Moines University College of Osteopathic Medicine. She completed her residency at Maine Dartmouth Family Medicine Residency in Augusta, Maine.

Dr. Abbas practices the full spectrum of rural family medicine including outpatient medicine, inpatient hospital care, obstetrics, addition medicine, integrative medicine and Osteopathic Manual Medicine. She serves as the Osteopathic Site Director for the Gundersen Health System Family Medicine Residency Program and President of the Iowa Academy of Osteopathy.

Outside of work she enjoys mountain biking, playing music with her husband, practicing yoga, and adventuring outdoors with her Doberman, “Nelly”.
