In this lecture, Dr. Stoffey discusses the care of Lymphedema for the Primary Care Physician.

Learning Objectives

  1. To describe the anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology of the Lymphatic System.
  2. To describe the pathophysiologic basis of Lymphedema. 
  3. To describe the Etiology of Lymphedema.
  4. To categorize and define the types of Lymphedema.
  5. To describe the clinical assessment of, the diagnosis of, and the therapeutic options of Lymphedema Care.
  6. To emphasize the role of the Primary Care Provider in suspecting that his/her patient has some form of Lymphedema and to seek early therapeutic options.

Robert D Stoffey, DO Related Seminars and Products


Dr. Robert D. Stoffey, D.O., is a board-certified, fellowship-trained neuroradiologist, who has a special interest in stroke imaging, vein care, and medical legal issues. Dr. Stoffey graduated from Western University, then the College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific. He completed his transitional internship at Fitzsimons Army Medical Center and after a diagnostic radiology residency at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, he served as a staff radiologist at William Beaumont Army Medical Center in El Paso, Texas. Since departing from the Army Dr. Stoffey has completed several fellowships including neuroradiology, phlebotomy, and MRI imaging. Dr. Stoffey has a strong interest in research and medical publications.
