Joseph A. Giaimo DO, FCCP, FACOI is an AOA board-certified osteopathic pulmonary physician; a Fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians, and Osteopathic Internist. Board Certified in Internal, Pulmonary, and Sleep Medicine, he is currently President-Elect of the American Osteopathic Association. Dr Giaimo served on the Practicing Physicians Advisory Council for Medicare, which was a Presidential appointment. Dr. Giaimo has completed the AOA Health Policy fellowship.

A member of the AOA since 2000, Dr. Giaimo has served with the AOA in many capacities. He has also served as a representative of Florida, where he was the Physician of the Year for FOMA in 2010, received a Presidential Citation in 2007, served as President of FOMA in 2005, and served as Palm Beach County District President from 1995-1998. He currently is in private practice in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, specializing in Pulmonary, Sleep and Internal Medicine. Dr. Giaimo completed his Residency and Fellowship at UMDNJ/School of Osteopathic Medicine in Stratford, New Jersey in 1990. Dr. Giaimo also served in the U.S. Naval Reserve from 1990 - 2002. He was mobilized to serve on various platforms including MOBILE Fleet hospitals, teaching hospitals and various ships—acting as senior medical officer---responsible for Pulmonary and Critical Care. Dr. Giaimo retired after 13 years as Commander in United States Naval Reserve. At the July 2020 AOA Annual Meeting and House of Delegates, Dr. Giaimo was installed as the 2020-2021 President-Elect of the American Osteopathic Association. He most recently was nominated as a Master Fellow for the American College of Osteopathic Internists.
