Description

Case Examples and Common Causes of Thyroid Disease.

Learning Objectives:
·    Illustrate the appropriate workup needed prior to referral.
·    Develop a differential diagnosis of symptoms of thyroid disease. 
·    Identify patients who actually need thyroid specialists for general thyroid disease and thyroid nodules. 

Accreditation Statements:
The Missouri Association of Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons (MAOPS) is accredited by the American Osteopathic Association to provide osteopathic continuing medical education for physicians. MAOPS designates this program for a maximum of .75 AOA Category 1-A credits and will report CME and specialty credits commensurate with the extent of the physician's participation.

Dr. Kirila graduated from the University of Health Sciences – College of Osteopathic Medicine (now known as Kansas City University  – College of Osteopathic Medicine) and completed a rotating internship at Still Regional Medical Center in Jefferson City, Missouri (now known as Capital Region Medical Center). She completed her residency in Internal Medicine with the University of Missouri – Kansas City at St. Luke’s Hospital and Truman Medical Center West. Dr. Kirila is board certified in Internal Medicine and a Fellow of the American College of Osteopathic Internists. Currently, she is an assistant professor of Internal Medicine at Kansas City University  – College of Osteopathic Medicine.
