Description

Dr. Havens discusses updates in the treatment of C-Diff.

Learning Objectives:
·    Recognize signs and symptoms of C Diff.
·    Be able to illustrate the proper workup for the diagnosis of C Diff infections.
·    Formulate a treatment plan for C Diff infections and re-occurrence.

The Missouri Association of Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons (MAOPS) is accredited by the American Osteopathic Association to provide osteopathic continuing medical education for physicians. MAOPS designates this program for a maximum of 1 AOA Category 2-A credits and will report CME and specialty credits commensurate with the extent of the physician's participation.

Dr. Nicholas Havens is the Chief of Primary Care Medicine at the Harry S. Truman Memorial Veterans’ Hospital in Columbia, Missouri where he also works as a hospitalist physician and clinical assistant professor. Dr. Havens is a graduate of the University of Missouri Columbia with a Doctor of Medicine degree. He also completed his residency at the University of Missouri in internal medicine and then completed an infectious disease fellowship also at MU. He is board certified in internal medicine and infectious disease by the American Board of Internal Medicine, and in pediatric medicine by the American Board of Pediatrics. When Dr. Havens is not working he enjoys volunteering with Crossing Kids and the Stephen’s College Physician Assistant Program Advisory Board as well as gardening, playing bass guitar and automotive repair.
