Colony S. Fugate


Colony S. Fugate, DO, is a clinical associate professor of pediatrics and Medical Director of the Family Health and Nutrition Clinic at Oklahoma State University Center for Health Sciences. Dr. Fugate is a board-certified pediatrician and Diplomate of the American Board of Obesity  Medicine. Dr. Fugate works with multidisciplinary teams to provide obesity prevention and management services for children and their families in Tulsa, Oklahoma. In addition to serving as the medical director of the Family Health and Nutrition Clinic, Dr. Fugate is the medical consultant for “Cowboys Get Healthy, Get Fit” and “Pink to Orange,” two group-based medical community collaborative obesity treatment programs. Dr. Fugate mentors osteopathic residents and students and represents Oklahoma State University on The Obesity Society and American Society of Bariatric Physicians’ obesity medicine curriculum development committees. Dr. Fugate has been a member of the Tulsa County Wellness Partnership (TCWP) since its inception and co-chairs the partnership’s regional Fit 2 Learn Summit, designed for K-12 educators, administrators and community policy makers who seek to improve health and wellness in our schools and communities. Dr. Fugate was awarded the American Osteopathic Foundation “Fit for Life” Award in 2012 and the received the Distinguished Alumni Award from the College of Human Sciences at Oklahoma State University in 2013.

 

(Dr. Fugate is employed by Oklahoma State University and appointed to the George Kaiser Family Foundation as Endowed Chair. Some funds support obesity education, outreach, and clinical care at OSU-CHS)
