Dr. Zachary J. Brown, DO, serves as an Assistant Professor of Surgery at NYU Langone Health and the Perlmutter Cancer Center, specializing in surgical oncology. His expertise lies in treating patients with advanced cancers from various origins, including the appendix, colon, rectum, and peritoneal surface. Additionally, he focuses on rare soft tissue cancers such as sarcomas. Dr. Brown employs cytoreductive surgery (CRS) and hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC) with a personalized approach, prioritizing patients' individual goals and ensuring they are well-informed about their condition. His dedication extends beyond patient care to cancer research, with over seventy peer-reviewed articles and contributions to authoritative journals like JAMA Surgery and the Journal of the American College of Surgeons. His research aims to advance understanding and treatment of peritoneal disease, offering hope to patients with limited standard treatment options.

Before joining NYU, Dr. Brown completed extensive training, including a general surgery residency at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and fellowships in Tumor Immunology and Surgical Oncology at the National Cancer Institute, as well as Complex General Surgical Oncology at The Ohio State University. He values collaboration within multidisciplinary teams at NYU and the Perlmutter Cancer Center, striving to deliver comprehensive cancer care to his patients while actively pursuing innovative therapies and clinical trials for those with peritoneal metastases.
