Description

The basics in treating dermatitis is centered on dry skin care and prevention. Although topical steroids are key for managing flares, the bulk of treatment weighs on the patient who’s daily skin care regimen can be time consuming and costly. From skin care products to eliminating triggers in the home or workspace, maintaining healthy skin may present quite challenging. Educating our patients on the basics of skin care management is key to improving quality of life. 

Learning Objectives 

  1. The provider will be able to manage dermatitis with appropriate choice of topical steroid strength as well as adjunctive therapies.   
  2. The provider will be able to advise their patients on dry skin care products and understand the differences in the current market choices.   
  3. The provider will take away the knowledge of when to refer for complicated dermatitis.

Dr. Rebecca Render practices Family Medicine in Vallejo, California in addition to teaching residents and medical students as core faculty at the Kaiser Napa-Solano Family Medicine Residency Program. As a former Fellow from Western University, COMP, she continues to practice OMT in her Family Medicine clinic as well as seeing patients for OMT through the Chronic Pain clinic at Vallejo. She graduated from Contra Costa Regional Medical Center, Family Medicine Residency Program, where she met her spouse. They currently live in the Bay Area with their two kids. She enjoys walking, practicing yoga and playing with her kids.
