Adrenal disorders and insufficiency is a broad topic with a wide variety of differentials. Appropriate diagnosis is often delayed for patients because symptoms can be vague and vary significantly. This presentation aims to review pathophysiology, differential diagnosis, and evaluation of patients with suspected adrenal insufficiency so physicians can discuss pharmacologic management with steroid and mineral corticosteroid supplementation.

Lauren A. Willard, DO, “Adrenal Disorders and Adrenal Insufficiency,” is a physician in the division of endocrinology and metabolism at UPMC Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh and a clinical assistant professor at the University of Pittsburgh Physicians. Board certified in internal medicine and endocrinology, diabetes and metabolism, Dr. Willard is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh and a 2009 graduate of the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine. She completed an internal medicine residency at UPMC Mercy Hospital and an endocrinology fellowship at Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, Virginia. She is a member of the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists and the Endocrine Society. She has no relevant financial relationship(s) with ineligible companies to disclose.
