Sommer Gunia, DO, FACOS Related Seminars and Products


Dr. Gunia is one of the few sub-specialty Fellowship Trained Breast Surgical Oncologists in Scottsdale and is committed to the evaluation and treatment of breast disease. She is dedicated to bringing the highest level of breast care to the valley by incorporating her expertise in the newest technologies and advancements available for both the diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer. Her training included oncoplastic surgical technique, which combines the principles of cancer removal with optimal cosmetic results.  She performs nipple sparing mastectomy and works closely with plastic surgeons for immediate reconstruction.

Dr. Gunia participates in multidisciplinary Breast Cancer Tumor Boards and has been Director and Co-Director of the yearly HonorHealth Breast Cancer Symposium. She was also voted by her peers as a “Top Doc” in PHOENIX magazine.

After earning an undergraduate degree at Arizona State University, she obtained her medical degree from Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences. Dr. Gunia completed general surgery training through Ohio University and further specialized in Breast Surgical Oncology at Akron General Medical Center in Ohio.

Dr. Gunia enjoys playing cards, relaxing by the pool with a good book, traveling, attending concerts and spending time with her husband, Steve, two Miniature Dachshunds (Vader and Leia) and their tabby cat (Mustacchio).
