•    Review risk factors for breast cancer.
•    Review risk calculation tools which can be used to identify women at increased risk of developing breast cancer in their lifetime.
•    Review screening recommendations for both average risk and high-risk women.
•    Discuss risk reduction strategies.
•    Review indications for genetic testing.
•    Discuss high penetrance breast cancer susceptibility genes.

After earning her medical degree from the Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine in Blacksburg, Dr. Salmon completed an Internal Medicine residency at Christiana Care Hospital in Newark, Delaware. She also completed fellowship training in hematology and oncology at East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina. Dr. Salmon is board-certified in internal medicine, hematology and medical oncology.

Drawn to the specialties of medical oncology and hematology for their countless opportunities to develop meaningful relationships with patients, Dr. Salmon finds the field equally as challenging as it is rewarding. She utilizes a holistic approach to treat not only the disease, but also the patient as a whole. With special interests in breast and gastrointestinal cancers, she strives to incorporate symptom management, mental well-being and spiritual support into the treatment plan for every patient.
