Description

Learning Objectives:

1-Understand the importance of recognizing the signs and symptoms of child maltreatment.

2-Identify Child Protector App as a resource to guide medical evaluation of suspected child maltreatment.

3-Improve communication amongst multi-disciplinary team members regarding recommendations for investigation and medical evaluation of suspected child maltreatment.

4-Develop strategies for handling cases of suspected child maltreatment when they are identified.

The program was planned, implemented and accredited by the Kansas Association of Osteopathic Medicine (KAOM).

The Kansas Association of Osteopathic Medicine is accredited by the American Osteopathic Association to provide osteopathic continuing medical education for physicians and designates this program for a maximum of 1.0 AOA Category 1-A credits and will report CME and specialty credits commensurate with the extent of the physician's participation in this activity. 

Grievance Policy:

KAOM wants to be made aware of the grievance in order to resolve it to your satisfaction. All grievances will receive an initial response in writing within 30 days of receipt. If the participant does not receive a satisfactory response from KAOM they can submit a complaint in writing to the Bureau of Osteopathic Education of the AOA at 142 East Ontario Street, Chicago, IL 60611.

Dr. Frazier received her DO degree from the Oklahoma State University – College of Osteopathic Medicine. She served a residency in General Pediatrics at UMKC and Children’s Mercy Hospitals and Clinics. She served a fellowship in Pediatric Abuse & Neglect with Children’s Mercy Hospitals & Clinics. She is employed by the National Criminal Justice Training Center as an instructor, as an Associate Fellowship Program Director, Child Abuse Pediatrics, and as a child abuse pediatrician both at Children’s Mercy Hospitals & Clinics in KC. She also serves as an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at UMKC School of Medicine. Dr. Frazier has made child abuse prevention and education her life’s work.
