I grew up in Colville, a rural community in northeastern Washington state. I attended Eastern Washington University and graduated with a degree in biochemistry before going to Des Moines University for medical school.  I completed my internal medicine residency at Iowa Methodist/Unitypoint and went to University of Texas in Houston for pulmonary and critical care fellowship. I currently practice at The Iowa Clinic. I am married with one son and enjoy going to sporting events, outdoor activities with my family, and hunting/shooting.
