Description

Objectives for Common Upper and Lower Extremity Injuries and How to Manage in the ED: 

  • Identify common orthopedic injuries that may present to the ED.
  • Understand the appropriate radiographic studies that need ordered and interpreted.
  • Discuss techniques that may aid in reducing certain fractures and dislocations.
  • Understand how to properly splint/immobilize the injured extremity.

Jeff Wahl grew up in west central Iowa and graduated from Simpson College with a BA in Biology in 2001. He received his D.O. degree from Des Moines University in 2005 and wen to South Pointe Hospital in Cleveland, OH to complete a traditional rotating internship and orthopedic surgery residency in 2010. Dr. Wahl moved back to Iowa with his wife Becky and three kids following his residency. He currently practices solo, hospital-employed orthopedic surgeon at Guthrie County Hospital in Guthrie Center and Green County Medical Center in Jefferson since 2010.
