Description

This program will expire and must be completed by 04/30/24.

In this lecture, Dr. Carrington will define and describe coronavirus infection and COVID-19 Pathology.  He will also discuss the evidence for the current recommended therapies for COVID-19.  He will address the various therapies and what the most up-to-date evidence is showing for each therapy.  He will conclude by discussing the current evidence regarding each of the COVID-19 vaccines.

Dr. Joseph Carrington is an Iowa native and a graduate of Des Moines University College of Osteopathic Medicine where he earned a dual-degree Doctorate of Osteopathic Medicine and Master’s of Healthcare Administration. He went on to do his internal medicine residency at the Johns Hopkins University/ Sinai Hospital of Baltimore in Baltimore, Maryland. He completed his fellowship in pulmonary medicine and critical care medicine at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska. During his fellowship he also served as chief fellow and was awarded “research fellow of the year” and “house officer of the year”. His research interests were in the inflammatory pathways of inhalational lung injury and recovery; including IL-6 and IL-10.  His research was presented at the American College of Chest Physicians annual conference where he was awarded for being one of the top 5 presentations that year. Returning to Iowa, Dr. Carrington now works as an intensivist and pulmonologist at MercyOne in Des Moines, Iowa.
