Learning Objectives

1Discuss the pathogenesis of Asthma at a molecular level.

2. Understand the different ways to classify asthma.

Dr. Hostoffer graduated from John Carroll University and received his D.O. in 1985 at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic medicine. He completed his residency training at Doctors hospital in Columbus, Ohio. His fellowship training was completed at the University of Alabama. He was the Clinical Associate Director of pediatric and adult Immunology at Case Western Reserve University. Dr. Hostoffer is board certified in Allergy and Immunology and is currently a Clinical Assistant Professor in Pediatrics at Case Western Reserve. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Immunology and the Clinical Immunology Society. He is also president of the American College of Osteopathic Pediatrics and the Cleveland Academy of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Hostoffer also serves as vice president of the Cleveland Allergy Society.

Dr. Hostoffer is a nationally recognized expert in immunodeficiency disorders and serves as the regional consultant for the PrimaryImmunodeficiency Foundation.

Dr. Hostoffer’s special interests include primary immunodeficiency’s, patients with recurrent infections (sinusitis, pneumonia, and bronchitis), and immunoglobulin (IVIGg) replacement therapy. His other interests include, but are not limited to, asthma, allergic rhinitis (hay fever), atopic dermatitis (eczema), food allergies, and hives in both adults and children.

Dr. Hostoffer has written numerous scientific articles which have been published in scientific journals, and lectures on a frequent basis.
