Description

Objectives:

  • Differentiate vasovagal syncope, orthostatic hypotension, postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS), and dysautonomias based on age-appropriate history, physical examination, and key diagnostic criteria.
  • Interpret orthostatic vital signs in the evaluation of pediatric syncope and orthostatic intolerance.
  • Identify red flags and cardiac features in children and adolescents with syncope that warrant more urgent cardiology referral or further cardiac testing.

Nebraska with scope of practice including outpatient cardiology in Des
Moines, IA, inpatient in Des Moines, IA, cardiac step-down unit in Omaha,
NE as well as reading cardiac testing including echocardiograms, ECG's,

Holter and event monitors. She graduated college from Cornell College in
Mt. Vernon, IA, attending medical school at Des Moines University, and
residency and fellowship at Children's Nebraska and University of Nebraska
Medical Center.
