Learning Objectives:

  • Distinguish primary and secondary headaches, particularly headaches that increase risk or are associated with stroke.
  • Outline stroke risk associated with migraine and mitigate risk.
  • Examine how to manage secondary headaches associated with stroke.

Barrow Neurological Institute


Kerry Knievel is a professor of neurology and director of the Lewis Headache Center at Barrow Neurological Institute in Phoenix AZ.  She received her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed Neurology residency and fellowship at Barrow Neurological Institute.  She is president of the Arizona Neurological Society and Headache Cooperative of the Pacific.
