Description

Following the completion of this program, the participant will be able to:

  1. Identify the prevalence and key risk factors for mental health disorders during the antenatal and postpartum periods.
  2. Apply evidence-based screening tools and treatment strategies for managing perinatal mental health conditions. 
  3. Evaluate the potential maternal, fetal, and neonatal risks associated with untreated mood and anxiety disorders during pregnancy and the postpartum period.

Anita Register, DO Related Seminars and Products


Dr. Anita Register is a board-certified obstetrician-gynecologist with a strong commitment to advancing women’s health, medical education, and maternal mental health. She currently serves as the Discipline Chair of Obstetrics & Gynecology at VCOM–Virginia as well as Assistant Professor at Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine. She earned her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from VCOM‑Carolinas and completed her OBGYN residency at Reading Hospital in the Tower Health system. With a passion for evidence-based and patient‑centered care, Dr. Register's professional journey includes full-scope OBGYN experience in both academic and community hospital settings; she is currently practicing in southwestern Virginia as an active faculty member at Carilion Clinic, seeing patients and educating the next generation of physicians. She has contributed to scholarly work through various research and quality improvement projects and remains passionate about promoting physician wellness and improving access to comprehensive perinatal care—including mental health support. Accreditation Information

The Virginia Osteopathic Medical Association (VOMA) is accredited by the American Osteopathic Association to provide osteopathic continuing medical education for physicians. VOMA designates this program for a maximum of 1 AOA Category 1A CME credits and will report CME credits commensurate with the extent of the physician’s participation.
