Objectives for How to Manage Your COVID-19 Patient: 

  • Manage acute presentation of COVID--19
  • Understand the current data concerning COVID-19 pathophysiology
  • Manage Long-COVID or Post-COVID Syndrome
  • Understand preventative measures and evidence for vaccines

**This speaker will be presenting non-labeled use of therapy in the context of this lecture**

 

The Iowa Osteopathic Medical Association is accredited by the American Osteopathic Association to provide osteopathic continuing medical education for physicians and designates this program for a maximum of 1 AOA Category 1-A credits and will report CME and specialty credits commensurate with the extent of the physician's participation in this activity.

Dr. Joseph Carrington is an Iowa native and a graduate of Des Moines University College of Osteopathic Medicine where he earned a dual-degree Doctorate of Osteopathic Medicine and Master’s of Healthcare Administration. He went on to do his internal medicine residency at the Johns Hopkins University/ Sinai Hospital of Baltimore in Baltimore, Maryland. He completed his fellowship in pulmonary medicine and critical care medicine at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska. During his fellowship he also served as chief fellow and was awarded “research fellow of the year” and “house officer of the year”. His research interests were in the inflammatory pathways of inhalational lung injury and recovery; including IL-6 and IL-10.  His research was presented at the American College of Chest Physicians annual conference where he was awarded for being one of the top 5 presentations that year. Returning to Iowa, Dr. Carrington now works as an intensivist and pulmonologist at MercyOne in Des Moines, Iowa.

Dr. Carrington discloses that he has no relevant financial relationships with any organization producing, marketing, reselling, or distributing health care goods
