Description

During this presentation, the speaker will present a very brief history of Ayurveda. Next, the speaker will applying the principles of ayurveda to the physiology and the concept of Bio- Individuality (body types). Dietary recommendations for each of the body types will be given as well as general recommendations for an Ayurvedic Daily Routine to create a balanced lifestyle. Brief examples of Ayurvedic treatments to restore balance to the physiology will be presented.

Upon completion of this program, participants will be able to:

  1. For Osteopathic Physicians to become aware of one of the major forms of Alternative Medicine that their patients may be using.
  2. Present a potential avenue for interested DOs to expand their own use of an Integrative Medicine model in their practice.
  3. To present a potential avenue for interested DOs to utilize these principle of Natural Medicine to improve health in their own lives.

Statement of Accreditation
The Texas Osteopathic Medical Association (TOMA) is accredited by the American Osteopathic Association to provide osteopathic continuing medical education for physicians. TOMA designates is program for a maximum of 1 AOA Category 1-A credits and will report CME credits commensurate with the extent of the physician’s participation in this activity.

Dr. Davis is a 1986 graduate of the Tx College of Out Med. and did his Internship at Rocky Mtn Hsp inDenver. His training in Ayurveda took place from 1988-2000 at Maharishi International Univ in Fairfield IA and the Maharishi College of Vedic Medicine in Albuquerque NM. He served as the Assoc Med Dir 1997-2000 at the Dallas Center for Chronic Disorders, an inpatient AV facility specializing in Chronic Disease. Dr. Davis has been in private practice in Austin since 2003, integrating Osteop Med and AV into his general practice. In 2013 he became the Med Dir of the Integrative Wellness Center at Maharishi International Univ where he is responsible for the clinic training portion of the Masters in Ayur Veda online program, one of the only Masters Degree programs in Ayurveda in the US.
