Mental Health is health, even in a global pandemic. Unquestionably COVID-19 has changed our individual lives and the world. Explore data on current mental health trends and ways to increase psychological flexibility and resilience for both patients and practitioners in the midst of unprecedented change.

Upon completion of this presentation, participants will be able:

  • Analyze current mental health data and discuss changes seen since pandemic began
  • Evaluate behavioral health needs on both a macro and a micro level
  • Identify interventions to improve psychological flexibility and resilience and plan actionable next steps.

Updates in DVT/PE in the Urgent Care and Emergency Department Setting

This presentation will give a synopsis that describes and discusses the pearls and pitfalls of diagnosing and treating DVT and PE in the Urgent Care and Emergency Department setting. There are many new articles describing age adjusted d-dimer cutoffs to guide ruling out and diagnosing DVT/PE. There are also new guidelines for treatment options for DVT/PE that will affect current practice.

Upon completion of this presentation, participants will be able to:

  • Identify and discuss current guidelines on ruling out and diagnosing DVT/PE
  • Discuss new age-adjusted d-dimmer criteria and studies in recent literature
  • Identify and discuss current treatment options for DVT/PE.

The Texas Osteopathic Medical Association (TOMA) is accredited by the American Osteopathic Association to provide osteopathic continuing medical education for physicians. TOMA designates this program for a maximum of 1.5 AOA Category 1-A credits and will report CME credits commensurate with the extent of the physician’s participation in this activity.

Theresa Murphy is an avid mental health advocate and currently holds the position of Director of Behavioral Health at Methodist Family Medicine Residency Program. Ms. Murphy is a licensed practicing therapist and her areas of expertise include community mental health, trauma informed care, integrative behavioral health and provider psychological well-being. Ms. Murphy enjoys spending time with her family, cooking, yoga and being in nature on her time off.

Matthew Eaton, D.O.'s Profile

Matthew Eaton, D.O. Related Seminars and Products


Dr. Matthew Eaton is a board-certified Emergency Medicine physician and currently practices throughout San Antonio within the Methodist Hospital System. He pursued his undergraduate education at Purdue University in his native state of Indiana. He went on to receive his Master of Public Health degree from the Indiana University School of Medicine and his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from the Midwestern University - Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Eaton completed his residency in Emergency Medicine in Illinois, served as chief resident at Midwestern University, and has previously practiced medicine in the Chicago metropolitan area. Aside from Emergency Medicine, Dr. Eaton has a special interest in Critical Care, Global Health, and Epidemiology. He has traveled to Honduras and Guatemala on medical mission trips and managed a student run clinic for underserved populations in Chicago. He is a member of the American College of Osteopathic Emergency Physicians, the American Academy of Emergency Medicine and the American Osteopathic Association. Dr. Eaton is currently serving part-time as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Clinical and Applied Science Education at the University of the Incarnate Word School of Osteopathic Medicine. As a part of the outstanding faculty, he is excited to help shape the future of Osteopathic Medicine in San Antonio.
