Calderone, DO, MPH performed his undergraduate studies at Southeastern Louisiana University.  He earned a Master of Biomedical Sciences degree from William Carey University, as well as a Master of Public Health degree from the University of Southern Mississippi.  He is a graduate of the inaugural class of William Carey University’s College of Osteopathic Medicine, where he was a National Health Service Corps Scholar.  Dr. Calderone completed his residency training in both Internal Medicine and Pediatrics at The University of Mississippi Medical Center and received additional certifications in Hypertension and HIV Medicine. He is currently a fellow in the Population Health Training in Place Program, through the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s “Preventive Medicine” program.  Dr. Calderone is the secretary of the board of directors for the Mississippi Osteopathic Medical Association and for the South Mississippi Medical Society.  He serves as a full-time faculty member for the Forrest General Hospital Family Medicine Residency Program, where he is also the medical director of the FGH Preoperative Clinic.

BIO: Dr. William S. (Bill) Mayo is a board-certified ophthalmologist practicing in Oxford, Mississippi. He also is a clinical instructor at the William Carey University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, where he served as chairman of the Department of Ophthalmology from 2010–2012.  In 2019, Dr. Mayo served as the 122nd President of the American Osteopathic Association.  

Throughout his tenure, Dr. Mayo has served the AOA in many capacities, including as chair of the Department of Governmental Affairs, the Department of Affiliate Relations, the Department of Business Affairs, and as vice chair and chair of the Department of Educational Affairs. Additionally, Dr. Mayo is a past president of the Mississippi Osteopathic Medical Association and the Mississippi EENT Society. He also has served on the Mississippi State Board of Medical Licensure since 2006 and was president from 2010-2012.

After earning his osteopathic medical degree from what is now the Kansas City (Missouri) University of Medicine and Biosciences College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1981, Dr. Mayo completed an internship and ophthalmology residency at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, MS.??

BIO: Dr. Italo Subbarao is a leader in domestic and international disaster response and has provided field and technical support during large-scale emergencies like earthquakes in Haiti and Pakistan, shootings in Mumbai, and hurricanes like Katrina – which brought about his first visit to Mississippi in 2005.  Seven years later, having worked as an emergency room physician and disaster fellow at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and director of Public Health Readiness for the American Medical Association, Dr. Subbarao arrived in Hattiesburg.
Dr. Subbarao joined the WCU College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2012, serving as associate professor of clinical sciences and Associate Dean.  Later, he moved into the role of Senior Associate Dean, and in 2019 became the Dean of WCUCOM.  Dr. Subbarao serves on the board of directors for many state and national organizations, including the Mississippi Osteopathic Medical Association.

Dr. Hood is currently in a private practice, Elite Wellness for Women, an OB/GYN clinic in Jackson, Mississippi.  He received his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences – College of Osteopathic Medicine.  He then completed his internship and residency in OB/GYN at the University of Mississippi Medical Center.

Dr. Hood remains extremely involved in the osteopathic profession.  He is currently serving as a board member for the American Osteopathic Association. He also served as a student and resident member to the American Osteopathic Association’s Board of Trustees.  He has served on the AOA’s Bureau of Osteopathic Education, and the AOA Council of Osteopathic GME Development.  He has previously served on many AOA bureaus, councils, and committees. 

He is also serving as chair of the American College of Osteopathic OB/GYN Bylaws Committee and served three terms on the ACOOG Board of Trustees. 

He is a past president for the Mississippi Osteopathic Medical Association and has been very involved in the MOMA since he was a resident.  He continues to serve as the MOMA delegation chair to the AOA House of Delegates.

He has served on two committees of the National Board of Osteopathic Medical Examiners. He is clinical preceptor for the William Carey University – College of Osteopathic Medicine in Hattiesburg, MS, where he teaches women’s health topics.  He was awarded the MOMA Preceptor of the Year in 2021-2022.

He also serves on many hospital committees at River Oaks Hospital in Jackson, MS, currently serving as Chief of Staff.

He enjoys life with his wife, Summer, and their 4 children.  He enjoys golf, and water skiing, and traveling with his family. 

Interesting fact:  Dr. Hood, or “Ashley”, was named after Gone with the Wind.  His mother was a big fan of the movie, and her best friend’s name?????   …… You guessed it, Scarlet.  There were actually 5 boys in his high school named Ashley (generational thing)!!
