Description

Objectives:

  • Identify the key clinical features and diagnostic challenges of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE).
  • Review current diagnostic criteria and tools used to confirm lupus and distinguish it from similar conditions.
  • Discuss evidence-based treatment strategies, from conventional therapies to emerging biologics.
  • Explore multidisciplinary approaches that address not only disease activity but also quality of life, comorbidities, and patient-centered care.
  • Evaluate barriers to care, including disparities in access and outcomes, and consider practical solutions to improve equity.

Still University, completed her internal medicine residency at University of Iowa, and pursued a fellowship in rheumatology at University of Iowa. With a patient-centered approach and a focus on evidence-based care, Dr. Orris is dedicated to improving quality of life for individuals living with chronic
rheumatic diseases.
