Description

Newest minimally-invasive outpatient procedures which do no require general anesthesia and can avoid major surgical correction. MILD (minimally Invasive Lumbar Decompression) Vertiflex Superion Intraspinal spacer implants and Corner-Loc Sacro-iliac Stabilization devices are discussed, along with percutaneous adhesiolysis for post laminectomy pain syndrome. Discussion of the necessity of newer procedures in the face of the opioid crisis and mandatory reduction of prescription opioid medication for pain control by Federal DEA and State Medical Boards.

Learning Objectives:

  • Acquaint physicians with strategies which may not require major surgical correction
  • Patient selection for referral to Interventional Pain Physicians
  • New and existing minimally-invasive procedures

Statement of Accreditation
The Texas Osteopathic Medical Association (TOMA) is accredited by the American Osteopathic Association to provide osteopathic continuing medical education for physicians. TOMA designates this program for a maximum of .75 AOA Category 1-A credits and will report CME credits commensurate with the extent of the physician’s participation in this activity.
