Description

The physician learner will be able to: 
•    Describe the Lymphatic system including, the lymph fluid, lymph vessels, function of the system, & mechanisms of flow.
•    Integrate the body’s integration through the sympathetic and parasympathetic innervations of the body and Chapmans’ reflexes.
•    Describe what lymphatic pump techniques (LPT) are accomplishing in the animal models (healthy, lower respiratory illness, and cancerns).
•    Describe how LPT helps to protect and aid the immune system in patients with pneumonia.
•    Perform specific lymphatic techniques for patients with lower respiratory illness such as COVID 19 patients.  This will include ways to teach a patient, quarantined at home, to perform procedures on themselves to aid in their treatment and the how they can be taught via a Telemedicine model. 

Accreditation Statements:
The Missouri Association of Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons (MAOPS) is accredited by the American Osteopathic Association to provide osteopathic continuing medical education for physicians. MAOPS designates this program for a maximum of 1.75 AOA Category 1-A Credits and will report CME and specialty credits commensurate with the extent of the physician's participation.

Missouri Association of Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons (MAOPS) designates this enduring activity for a maximum of 1.75 AMA PRA Category 1 Creditsä.  Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the accreditation requirements and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint providership of the Missouri Association of Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons (MAOPS) and Kansas City University College of Osteopathic Medicine. MAOPS is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

A third generation DO in his family, Dr. Treffer graduated from KCU in 1987. He is board certified in Osteopathic Family Practice, as well as, Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine/Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine. He has taught OMM at KCU for 28 years and has served as the Chair of the Department of OMM for 10 years. He has authored a book chapter in the Waldman Pain Management text on the Osteopathic approach to the chronic pain patient, authored Clinical Oriented Integrated Learning Scenarios through the Educational Council on Osteopathic Principles and has had research published in scientific journals on the topic of OMM. He serves as a member of the National Faculty for NBOME and helps with exam and OPP item writing reviews for COMLEX USA Levels 1, 2, & 3.

Dr. Rosch currently serves as the Joplin Campus dean for Kansas City University.  She is the past chair of the Department of Internal Medicine at Midwestern University’s College of Osteopathic Medicine in Downer’s Grove, Illinois and was a residency program director at Mt. Sinai Hospital and Medical Center in Chicago, Illinois. Dr. Rosch earned a Doctorate of Osteopathic Medicine from Midwestern University’s Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine and is past president of Illinois Osteopathc Medical Society.  She currently serves on the board for the American College of Osteopathic Internists.
