This program will expire and must be completed by 07/02/24.

A workshop focused on the application of osteopathic principles in the clinical management of carpal tunnel syndrome, including the treatment of somatic dysfunction related to carpal tunnel syndrome.

Educational Objectives
·    Define and discuss diagnostic criteria for carpal tunnel syndrome
·    Explain the pathophysiology, including the etiology, epidemiology, and risk factors of carpal tunnel syndrome
·    Discuss the clinical manifestations and the physical examination finding of carpal tunnel syndrome
·    Describe and administer the osteopathic manipulative treatment approach to the management of carpal tunnel and discuss the treatment goals for the various types of techniques

Accreditation Statements:
The Missouri Association of Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons (MAOPS) is accredited by the American Osteopathic Association to provide osteopathic continuing medical education for physicians. MAOPS designates this program for a maximum of 1.75 AOA Category 1-A credits and will report CME and specialty credits commensurate with the extent of the physician's participation.

Missouri Association of Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons (MAOPS) designates this live activity for a maximum of 1.75 AMA PRA Category 1 Creditsä.  Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the accreditation requirements and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint providership of the Missouri Association of Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons (MAOPS) and the National Center for Osteopathic Principles in Education (NCOPPE). Still University’s Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine (ATSU-KCOM).  Dr. Snider is board certified in Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine and Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine.  She earned her doctor of osteopathic medicine from West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine, and she completed residency at Northeast Regional Medical Center.  Dr. Snider has earned fellowship awards from the American Academy of Osteopathy and the National Academy of Osteopathic Medical Educators.

James T. Lam, DO, '14 is an assistant professor at A.T. Still University's Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine (ATSU-KCOM). Dr. Lam earned his doctor of osteopathic medicine degree from ATSU-KCOM and completed his internship at UNM-Children's Hospital in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and residency at Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville, Missouri. Dr. Eric Lesh is a PGY‐3 Family Medicine resident at Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville, MO, where he currently serves as chief resident. Upon completion of his residency program, Dr. Lesh will join ATSU-KCOM as an assistant professor and residency faculty. Dr. Lesh’s professional interests include: Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine, Clinical Simulation in Medical Education, Graduate and Undergraduate Medical Education and Evidence-Based Medicine.
