This program will expire and must be completed by 11/19/24.

Physicians and medical professionals will review the ACGME-AOA single accreditation process and osteopathic recognition pathway. They will explore the use of Osteopathic principles including the use of the procedure of OMT in clinical practice.  They will learn the history of osteopathic medicine in Montana.

Learning Objectives:
•    Discuss the ACGME-AOA single accreditation process and osteopathic recognition pathway
•    Explain the history of osteopathic medicine in Montana
•    Describe the use of Osteopathic principles including the use of the procedure of OMT in a clinical practice

Accreditation Statement:
The Montana Osteopathic Medical Association is accredited by the American Osteopathic Association to provide osteopathic continuing medical education for physicians and designates this program for a maximum of .75 AOA Category 1-A credits and will report CME and specialty credits commensurate with the extent of the physician's participation in this activity.

Grievance Policy:
All grievances should be in writing and should specify the nature of the grievance.  Initially, all grievances should be directed to MOMA Executive Director, who will then forward said grievance to the Education & Convention Committee.  All grievances will receive an initial response in writing within 30 days of receipt.  If the participant does not receive a satisfactory response, then they can then submit a complaint in writing to the Bureau of Osteopathic Education of the AOA at 142 East Ontario Street, Chicago, IL 60611.

Dr. Donald Grewell attended the University of Montana prior to joining the US Army in 1977 where he served as an enlisted soldier before becoming a warrant office and helicopter pilot.  While serving in the military, he also attended the College of Osteopathic Medicine of The Pacific, where he obtained his Doctorate in Osteopathic Medicine in 1985, before continuing to an internship at Parkview Hospital in Toledo, OH, and then completing his  Family Medicine Residency at Medical College of Ohio, also in Toledo.

Dr. Grewell served another 20 commissioned years as a senior flight surgeon and medical company commander where he oversaw 110 personnel. He retired in 2002 from military service.

Over his 33 years in clinical practice, he has been part of many professional organizations, including the American Osteopathic Association, the Christian Medical Society, and the American Academy of Family Physicians.  He has served as the Montana Osteopathic Medical Association (MOMA) in various roles such as the Association President and the Executive Director.  Dr. Grewell is part- time faculty with the Montana Family Medicine Residency, based out of Billings, MT and served as the Director of Osteopathic Education for the program from 2013-2019.  Dr. Grewell recently retired from Billings Clinic where he was a family physician.
