Pneumonia is one of the most common issues faced in both the outpatient and inpatient settings. This review will be a reminder of the basics of pneumonia. It will also illustrate how one can determine when to treat or when to decide to refer to the hospital for admission.

Dr. Fitzgerald is a graduate of the Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences (COM-2014). She completed her residency training in Internal Medicine at Skagit Regional Health in Mount Vernon, WA. During her time in residency she worked with many students from PNWU. After training she returned to the Midwest to practice as a hospitalist at Advent Health Shawnee Mission. As part of her work she has been actively caring for COVID-19 patients and participating in the COVID-19 hospital team.
