Description

First presented at the FOMA 2022 Virtual Convention. A case based presentation by Robert L. DiGiovanni, DO, FACOI, FACR reviews:

  • The current diagnostic guidelines for the spondyloarthropathies.
  • The clinical features of spondyloarthritis. Differentiate between inflammatory back pain and mechanical back pain.
  • Know the physical exam findings and radiographic features of ankylosing spondylitis, Psoriatic Arthritis and Reactive Arthritis.
  • Be familiar with some of the therapeutic options for patients with Spondyloarthrits.

Robert L. DiGiovanni, DO, FACOI, FACR is President of the American College of Osteopathic Internists and Program Director for HCA Largo Medical Center Rheumatology Fellowship. He is Associate Professor of Medicine for Morsani College of Medicine and Professor of Clinical Medicine NSU/DKCP College of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. DiGiovanni attended Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine from 1978-1982. He did his Internship and Residency in Internal Medicine at Suncoast Osteopathic Hospital in Largo Florida from 1982-1985. He completed his Rheumatology Fellowship at University of Arizona College of Health Sciences 1985-1987. He has been with his Rheumatology Practice at Suncoast Internal Medicine Consultants in Largo, FL since 1987. He has a son, Ernest Leonard DiGiovanni, DO, who is with the Department of Gastroenterology C.W. Bill Young Veterans Medical Center St Petersburg, FL. He has a daughter, Rachel Lee Duffy, DMD, MPH Assistant Professor at the Arizona School of Dentistry and Oral Health ATSU, Mesa AZ. His hobbies include spending time with his four grandchildren:  Kendall, Clara, Layla and Vincent.
